La Bande Dessinée

Belgium is the country of comic strips. All around Brussels, if you look on the buildings you can see famous characters like Tintin and Gaston Lagaffe.
What most of you don't know is that the Smurfs  (Les Schtroumpfs in French and De Smurfen in Dutch) came out from Belgium as well. I'm pretty sure you all have nice memories from your childhood with Gargamel, Papa Smurf, Grouchy Smurf and so on.
It all started in 1929 when Hergé invented TinTin, a young reporter sent all over the world to find his stories. It was first published in some local journals and nowadays is translated in more than 80 different languages.
Belgium had a huge contribution to the development of the 9th art
